The Magic of Beans: A Simple Way to Add Protein & Fiber to Your Diet!

Want to get more protein and add slow-acting carbs and filling fiber to your diet? Try beans! Guidelines from the Department of Health and Human Services recommend we eat about 3 cups of beans a week. Beans are almost the perfect combination of fiber and protein and have been shown to support blood sugar regulation. Fewer afternoon blood sugar crashes!

  • Add garbanzo beans to your salad.
  • Throw black beans into your breakfast burrito.
  • Make homemade white or black bean chili or soup and add green peppers and tomatoes for an extra nutritional punch.

Consider replacing meat in one meal a week with beans. Your body will thank you!
