Don't Give Up On Travel During the Coronavirus Pandemic: 4 Ways to Feed Your Travel Bug in the Time of COVID-19

Having to call off our travel plans for the year because of the coronavirus pandemic is sad. As traveling is a big part of my job as a content creator, I'm so eager to travel again, and if you found your way to this article, I'm sure you feel the same. But if there’s anything that travel has taught me, it’s the ability to adapt to challenging situations.

There still are many ways to feed our travel bug this year – we’ll just need to be comfortable with a little change and a little more waiting! Here are my favorite ways to feed my need to wander:

1. Save Up for Your Next Dream Vacation

While you might be sad that your travel plans for the year have been canceled, now might be a good time to set that money aside and save up for that grand trip you've always wanted. A month-long escapade across Southeast Asia, perhaps? Or a wonderful summer in Iceland? This is the time for dreaming big, and making plans so that we may look forward to a better tomorrow.

2. Learn to Cook a Meal From Your Favorite Destination

Perhaps you might be craving for a dish that you got to try from a previous trip. If you haven't already, why not look up a recipe online and try making it yourself? Have it for a dinner date at home on a weekend with a loved one and a refreshing glass of wine. If ingredients are hard to come by in your neighborhood, you can also try ordering online.

3. Plan a Different Trip ... Around Your Neighborhood!

We often dream of going to faraway places that we neglect to see the beauty we have nearby. Why not put on your walking shoes and go on an exploratory walk of your neighborhood? Perhaps there are beautiful parks, cute houses or other features that you may have never noticed before. Of course, make sure to still keep at least 6 feet away from people, wear a face mask and sanitize your hands after touching any surfaces.

4. Ditch Flying for Now and Go On a Road Trip to a National Park

It might sound risky to go on any trip now, but we aren't ruling out road trips with your family or housemates! As long as you follow safety protocols and social distancing measures, you can still have a great, worry-free time. Being outdoors is great for your physical and mental health. Aside from your mask, make sure to wear a protective hatsunscreen and bug spray if you're heading out this summer.
