Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K., Kevin Spacey, Jeffrey Tambor, Charlie Rose, John Lasseter, Matt Lauer… While the list of men accused of sexual harassment grows almost daily, country superstar Keith Urban has started a new list with his song, “Female" – a list of men speaking out for women and against gender inequality, sexual harassment and stereotypes.

Urban co-wrote "Female" with songwriter Nicolle Galyon and debuted it at the Country Music Awards. According to an NPR interview by Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Urban “faced backlash after his performance … Some critics claimed that he was mansplaining feminism to women. Others took offense that the song uses the word female as a noun.”

According to the NPR interview, Galyon took no such offense, and says, “I’m so freaking proud to be a female and to be called a female – feels more like a badge of honor to me.” (Read/listen to the entire interview with Nicolle Galyon via NPR.)
