20-20-20 Rule for Eye Health: Do You Know What It Is? Read This!

Have you heard of the 20-20-20 rule when it comes to straining your eyes with computer, tablet and phone screens? To rest your eyes, it's good to look up from your work every 20 minutes, focus on an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds – the 20-20-20 rule. Lighthouse Guild, the leading not-for-profit vision and healthcare organization, says this type of eye strain – also known as computer vision syndrome – doesn't permanently damage eyesight, but symptoms could include:

  • burning eyes
  • tired eyes
  • headaches
  • neck pain
  • fatigue
  • blurred
  • double vision

I am setting a recurring reminder on my computer for this. And since I've been trying to increase my water intake, I will make sure to take a few sips each time I practice my 20/20/20!

I have to remind myself as well, Candy Stephens . And you know how bad I am at drinking water. Still trying!
