Crunchy Fried Shrimp Recipe Is Quick, Easy & Delicious (4 Ingredients, 30 Minutes) Seafood Dinner Appetizers Gluten-free High Protein Recipes Low Sugar Recipes
Fried shrimp is one of my family's favorites. Tender, juicy shrimp encased in a crunchy coating. What's not to love? This is a simple, basic fried shrimp recipe that lets the flavor of the shrimp shine.
To make this shrimp recipe you only need four ingredients. Here is your short shopping list: fresh shrimp, an egg, dry breadcrumbs (use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free dinner) and vegetable oil for frying. After peeling and deveining the shrimp, they're dipped in egg, coated in breadcrumbs and fried until golden, crunchy and delicious. This is a quick and easy seafood dinner for busy weeknights or lazy weekends.
These succulent high-protein shrimp are even more delicious dipped in a sauce. We like tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, remoulade sauce and sometimes a sweet Asian chili sauce. The shrimp can be served as part of a seafood dinner with hushpuppies, french fries and cole slaw (or whatever you like with fried shrimp) or served as an appetizer with just a dipping sauce.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 - 2 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined (you can leave the tail on)
- 1 egg
- 2 cups dry breadcrumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs
- vegetable oil, for frying
Optional Ingredients
Here's how to make it:
- Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet. Heat to 350 degrees F on a food thermometer.
- Beat the egg in a shallow bowl. Put the breadcrumbs into another shallow bowl. If using a seasoning, add it to the breadcrumbs or alternately you could sprinkle it directly on the shrimp. Add salt and pepper, if desired.
- Dip the shrimp into the egg and then into the breadcrumbs. Place the shrimp on a plate and repeat until all the shrimp are coated.
- Put the shrimp, a few at a time, into the oil. Fry until golden brown, about 4 to 5 minutes. Do not crowd the pan. You will have to do this in batches. Remove the shrimp to a paper towel. You could keep the shrimp hot in a very low oven.
- Serve the shrimp with your desired dipping sauces.
