Banana Applesauce Oatmeal Cookies Recipe: No Added Sugar, Flour, Oil, Salt or Eggs Cookies Low Sodium Recipes Snacks Desserts Gluten-free Breakfast

Here’s a sweet tooth satisfier that is actually pretty healthy! It’s missing most of the things that make cookies less-than-perfect nutrition, but still tastes like something that does have all those things.

The consistency of this fruity oatmeal cookie recipe is almost muffin-like, and I suspect it would make good muffins. My husband calls them "muffies!" And you can decide which add-ins you want – the original recipe called for chocolate chips and nuts, but I opted for raisins and dried cranberries instead. Made with oat bran and oatmeal, the mashed bananas and applesauce give these breakfast cookies flavor and substance!

To make these banana applesauce cookies you will need the following ingredients: ripe bananas, applesauce, oats, almond milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon and optional mix-ins (raisins, dried cranberries, chocolate chips, nuts, etc.). Serve these low-sugar cookies as a snack or even for breakfast or a more nutritious dessert.

Recipe Notes

  • If I had unsweetened applesauce, I would have used that and it would have been plenty sweet.
  • Oats and oat bran are naturally gluten-free, but to ensure no cross-contamination, you can use gluten-free oats and oat bran.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet.
  3. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 15 to 20 minutes.
