My aunt made fruitcake cookies. They are really good!!

The recipe doesn’t state when to add the sugar. Following the recipe step by step, I didn’t add the sugar. The cookies are dry and not giftable. While it’s partially my fault, I can’t say that I’m not a little annoyed.

Hi, Martha. The sugar is creamed together with the butter in the first step. I am sorry the cookies did not turn out for you. But yes, without the 1 1/2 cups sugar they would be off. We will definitely get this one back into our test kitchens for another try though.

Thanks! May try them again. Mine also didn’t flatten out like the photo. They’re more like clusters.
