Fresh Peach Cobbler Recipe Is Summer Sweetness At Its Best (9 Ingredients) Desserts Southern Recipes Fruit Gluten-free

We were traveling this past month for a large family get-together and my sister brought the most beautiful crate of fresh peaches. Enter this beautiful and delicious peach cobbler dessert your friends and family will be asking you to make over and over. This fruit cobbler recipe makes great use of those juicy, summer peaches.

To make this sweet peach cobbler you will need just a few simple ingredients: fresh peaches (read about the health benefits of peaches), sugar, cinnamon, flour, baking powder, salt, butter, lemon juice (fresh is best) and milk. 

The cut peaches are tossed in cinnamon and sugar. The topping is a combination of flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, a pinch of salt, melted butter, milk and lemon juice. It's spooned over the sweetened fruit and baked until golden.

Ingredients

Filling

• 10 - 12 ripe peaches (about 4 pounds total), peeled, pitted and cut into chunks
• 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Topping

• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Here's how to make it: 

1. Place peeled and cut peaches into the bottom of a 13x9-inch baking pan. Toss with 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. (Leave the peach peel on if you prefer.)
2. In a medium bowl make topping by combining all the dry ingredients and then adding milk, lemon juice and melted butter. Mix until dry ingredients are combined. (For a gluten-free cobbler, use gluten-free flour.)
3. Spoon the mixture over the top of the peaches.
4. Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for 40 to 50 minutes until top is golden brown. Remove and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
5. Store any leftovers covered in the fridge and reheat in the microwave. This cobbler recipe could easily be cut in half and baked in an 8x8-inch pan.
