Jennifer Garner is a busy parent like many people, so when I saw her easy and quick brown butter pasta recipe I just had to try it. It takes about as much time to prepare the ingredients as it does to boil the noodles for this pasta recipe – and it's so buttery and delicious. This is one easy pasta dinner you need to make ASAP!

Here is your short and simple shopping list for this easy brown butter pasta dinner: pasta, butter, sage leaves, a lemon, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, zucchini or broccoli and olive oil. To make it a one-dish meal just add zucchini, broccoli or any sautéed vegetable. And if you are looking for a way to add more protein, keep it gluten-free and keep it plant-based, just use any lentil or chickpea pasta like I did!

Serve this buttery sage pasta as a vegetarian mail dish, side dish with dinner or for lunch.

Recipe Notes

  • I like to use lentil noodles in my pasta recipes.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and put into a bowl. While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the sage leaves and cook until butter is brown and sage gets a bit crispy. Stir often and don't let the butter get beyond brown to burnt. Remove from heat and add the lemon juice.
  3. If you are including vegetables, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to a skillet and sauté until soft while the butter browns.
  4. Pour butter and sage mixture over pasta and add most of the Parmesan and the optional vegetables. Toss to coat the pasta. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  5. Serve immediately with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
