Baked Apples Recipe: This Healthy Thanksgiving Dessert Can Be Made in the Oven or Microwave Fruit Desserts

Seems like if it were not for the last minute, nothing would ever get done. That goes for assembling healthier food choices at Thanksgiving

These easy, healthy and delicious baked apples can be made in the microwave (fast!) or in the oven. Mix and match the suggested fillings to create the perfect apples for your family. Serve as they are or with whipped cream or a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes in the oven and 4 minutes in the microwave
Total Time: 55 minutes for oven and 14 minutes for microwave
Servings: varies

Ingredients

  • apples, cored
  • cranberries
  • raisins
  • nuts
  • cinnamon
  • ground nutmeg
  • pumpkin pie spice

Here's how to make it:

  1. To make baked apples in the oven, put the apples into a baking pan. Add your fillings. Pour boiling water around the apples. Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for 45 minutes.
  2. To make baked apples in the microwave, put the apples into a microwave-safe casserole dish with a cover. Microwave for 4 minutes. Check the apples. They are ready when soft and tender. You may need to microwave longer, depending on the size of apples, as well as the wattage of your microwave.
