10-Minute Savory Cranberry Relish Recipe: Less Sugar, More Flavor Sauces/Condiments Holidays Fruit

It's a shame that cranberry sauce is only served at the holidays. I love cranberry sauce, and my go to is always this two-ingredient cranberry sauce recipe. While delicious, the amount of sugar can alarm some folks. So in my venture to find a lower-sugar cranberry sauce recipe, I stumbled on this savory cranberry sauce made with honey instead of sugar.

The kicker here is the use of a teriyaki marinade, black pepper and lemon. This savory cranberry sauce complements that holiday turkey beautifully, but can also be used on chicken or pork, too. Get ready for recipe requests.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • zest of 1 lemon

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine the cranberries, honey and marinade/sauce in a saucepot. Cook over medium-high heat until it boils. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in the pepper and lemon zest. Cool completely before refrigerating.

Note: For a thicker sauce, cook about 2 to 3 minutes longer.
