Thai Nom Yen is a sweet drink similar to a strawberry milkshake. It is also known as pink milk, pinky milk or nom yen. It’s known to provide an energy boost and to be refreshing on a hot day.
One of the key ingredients is sala syrup, inspired by salacca, a very sweet South East Asian palm fruit. I recommend Hale’s Blue Boy Sala Syrup. You can find it online (see link below) or at your nearest Asian supermarket. If you can’t get find sala, you can achieve a similar taste with strawberry or raspberry syrup.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sala syrup (can substitute strawberry syrup or raspberry syrup)
- 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk (to make the drink less sweet leave out the condensed milk)
- 3/4 cup milk
- ice cubes (optional)
Here’s how to make it:
- If you’d like your Thai Nom Yen to be extra cold, chill a large glass in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes for an extra chilled experience. Fill it with ice, if desired.
- Pour in sala syrup and condensed milk.
- Pour in the milk. Stir all ingredients together and serve immediately.
