  • 1 whole vanilla bean

Here's how to make it: 

  1. Pour the sugar into an airtight container.
  2. Slice the vanilla bean in half the long way, open up the bean and spoon out the dark gooey specks. Stir the specks into the sugar and bury the bean pod in the sugar.
  3. Cover the jar and let stand for at least 1 week.
