3-Ingredient Kentucky Mule Recipe: Moscow Mule’s Distinguished Southern Cousin Cocktails

My hubby is the bartender in our home. I just know what I like, and I love mule drinks. I’ve learned that they happen to be among the easiest cocktails to make.

The Kentucky Mule is a boozy, bourbon twist on a traditional Moscow Mule. If you know a bourbon lover, please share this recipe with them! With just three ingredients, this Kentucky Mule cocktail recipe is perfect for parties, dinners, happy hours and more, all year long.

I’ve heard the Kentucky Mule described as the “Moscow Mule’s Distinguished Southern cousin” and I absolutely love that. I will forever refer to it that way, and now you can, too!

Cuisine: American Southern
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces bourbon
  • ginger beer
  • juice of 1 lime

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Add ice to a copper mugrocks glass or highball glass (mules don't have to be served in copper!).
  2. Pour the bourbon over the ice, add the lime juice and fill up the rest of the glass with ginger beer. Garnish with additional lime slices.

Pro Tip: Use quality bourbon!
