Relive that childhood experience by making a batch of these easy lunch lady brownies. This easy frosted chocolate brownie recipe is ooey, gooey and topped with a creamy chocolate frosting. So good!

The low-sodium brownie batter is made with melted butter, unsweetened cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. The batter is baked in the oven until just set. The creamy chocolate frosting is made with butter, milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract and powdered sugar. The creamy frosting is spread on the warm (not hot!) brownies.

Ingredients

• 2 sticks (1 cup) butter, melted 
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• 4 eggs
• 4 teaspoons vanilla

Frosting 

• 4 tablespoons butter, softened
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
• 3 cups powdered sugar

Here's how to make it: 

1. Combine the melted butter and cocoa powder in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Add the granulated sugar, flour, eggs and vanilla. Beat until combined. 
2. Pour the batter into a parchment paper-lined 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 25 minutes or until brownies are set. Remove to cool. 
3. To make the frosting, combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and spreadable. Spread the frosting over the warm (not hot!) brownies. (Make sure the brownies are warm, not hot out of the oven, when spreading on the frosting.) Refrigerate until cooled, then cut into squares. Store the brownies in an airtight container to keep them moist.
