Sometimes, the simple things in life make holidays better. Less stress, less mess, more time spent with loved ones. And, one of my favorite things to do with my kids is create things in our kitchen. Holidays are a perfect time for this.

On Memorial Day, Labor Day or July 4th, the kids help marinate the meats, make salads, etc. Dessert? I leave it up to them entirely. They love to make this yummy flag cake, and I love this easy recipe for a fun and patriotic flag cake that kids can help make.

All you need for this easy four-ingredient flag cake recipe are a ready-made angel food or pound cake, whipped cream or frosting, fresh strawberries and blueberries. In just about 20 minutes, you'll have a patriotic dessert to be proud of.

The easy flag cake is an easy way to be festive for summer holidays, and the result is light, fresh and delish. It's also a great way to spend some time together and have a sweet treat as a result!
