Cube steaks are usually chuck or sirloin steaks that are cut into pieces and tenderized. This easy skillet cube steak recipe has a simple brown gravy, and because the steaks are thin, cooks in about 10 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Put the egg into a bowl and beat lightly. Put the flour into another bowl. 
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steaks with salt and pepper. Dip the steaks into the egg and then into the flour. Put the steaks into the hot oil. Cook until browned on both sides, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove to a plate.
  3. To make the gravy, whisk together the butter, flour and beef broth until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, about 2 minutes.
  4. Put the steaks back into the gravy and cook to heat through.
