4-Ingredient Amish Brussels Sprouts Recipe in Onion Cream Is Simply Delicious Amish Recipes Vegetables

Instead of making roasted brussels sprouts, why not cook them how the Amish do? This Amish brussels sprouts recipe has a creamy onion sauce and is simple to make.

The brussels sprouts are boiled, steamed, roasted or baked until tender. Butter is melted in a skillet and onions are cooked until soft and beginning to brown. Once they begin to brown, the heat is turned off and sour cream is stirred in. Add a little salt and pepper and this brussels sprouts side dish is ready to be served.

  • 1 1/2 - 2 pounds brussels sprouts, ends trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 1 pint sour cream

Here's how to make it:

  1. Cook the brussels sprouts until tender. You can boil, steam,, roast or bake them. 
  2. Melt the butter in a sauté pan. Add the onions and cook until soft and beginning to brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat and stir in the sour cream and brussels sprouts. Season with salt and pepper.
