The earliest aebleskiver pans are more than 300 years old and made from hammered copper. Traditionally, they are dusted with powdered sugar and filled with jams and berries. This easy aebleskiver recipe can be stuffed with whatever filling you like for breakfastbrunchdessert or snacking

Here's how to make it: 

  1. Whisk together the egg yolks and buttermilk in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  2. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold them gently into the batter. 
  3. Heat a greased aebleskiver pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of batter to each hole. Put the desired filling on the top then cover with another tablespoon of batter. 
  4. Cook until bubbles form and the bottom is golden. Flip them over and cook until the other side is golden. Dust with powdered sugar.
