Healthy Jicama Fries Will Give French Fries a Run for Their Money Vegetables Side Dishes

We all love french fries, but for many, they are a guilty pleasure. How about having your fries and nutrition, too? The health benefits of jicama is long -- and the flavor factor of these baked jicama fries is huge. Give them a try.

You'll need:

  • 1 large jicama, peeled
  • olive oil
  • smoked paprika
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • salt

Here’s how to make them:

  1. Cut the peeled jicama into fries and put into a bowl.
  2. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Toss to coat.
  3. Put onto a baking sheet in one layer. Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 30 minutes. 
  4. Turn them over and continue to cook until crispy and browned, about 20-25 minutes longer. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

We realize that health specialists are not precisely partial to fries, since, well, they're rotisserie potatoes with overflowing conduit stopping up fat. I dove somewhat more profound and acknowledged they can do more awful harm if eaten regularly, fries can cause some heart disease.
