To make this easy gingersnaps cookie recipe you will need to gather the following ingredients from your fridge, pantry and spice rack: brown sugar, vegetable shortening, molasses, an egg, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, salt, flour, baking soda and granulated sugar for sprinkling on (makes them pretty!). Ingredients

• 1 cup brown sugar, packed
• 3/4 cup shortening
• 1/4 cup molasses
• 1 egg
• 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ginger
• 1/2 teaspoon cloves
• 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
• dash of salt
• 2 1/4 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• granulated sugar, for sprinkling

Here’s how to make it:

1. Beat the brown sugar, shortening, molasses, egg, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and salt with an electric mixer. Add more or less of the baking spices to suit your tastes.
2. Combine the flour and baking soda. Add it to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
3. Shape dough into balls and dip into the granulated sugar. Place on cookie sheets that have been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for about 10 to 12 minutes. Store the cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresher longer.
