This salad dressing recipe took me forever to get. Give the old standby (aka ranch salad dressing) a break and try this easy honey mustard salad dressing recipe. It's another coveted recipe I talked the restaurant out of sharing with me. The historic Houston-area restaurant is now out of business, so I am relieved I can keep making their creamy honey mustard salad dressing at home.

This salad dressing is simple to prepare. Whisk together mayonnaise, vegetable oil, honey and mustard in a bowl until well combined. Then whisk in the apple cider vinegar and ground cayenne. This honey mustard salad dressing recipe is great on salads and as a dip for chicken tenders or chicken wings, or french fries, tater tots and onion rings. I always ordered a side of this creamy honey mustard salad dressing for my club sandwich and used creamy vinaigrette on my salad. Oh, the memories!

Ingredients

• 1 cup mayonnaise
• 1/2 cup oil (a neutral oil like vegetable or canola, not olive oil) 
• 1/2 cup honey
• 1/2 cup yellow mustard
• 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Here's how to make it:

1. Whisk together the mayonnaise, oil, honey and mustard in a bowl. (You can use any neutral oil in this recipe. Olive oil is not a neutral oil, so skip it for this recipe. Canola or vegetable oil are good choices.)
2. Whisk in the apple cider vinegar. Stir in cayenne. (This recipe makes a lot, so feel free to cut it in half.) Store the salad dressing in a mason jar, salad dressing cruet or an airtight container in the fridge.
