If you're a fan of cheesy baked dips and love the taste of Italian food, then here's an amazing appetizer recipe for you. This creamy Mediterranean burrata marinara dip recipe is pure delicious! If you love a cheesy dip piping hot from the oven, then you should give this Italian-inspired burrata marinara recipe a try. It's so easy to make and is a true crowd-pleaser.
Burrata is a ball of soft and creamy fresh cheese with an outer shell of mozzarella and an inside filled with rich curd and thick cream. With origins in southern Italy, the delightful cheese has a buttery consistency and a smooth flavor reminiscent of fresh mozzarella – but so much creamier. Burrata works well in all kinds of recipes, from appetizers to salads and from side dishes to mains. Plus, it's a high-protein ingredient that adds flavor as well as nutrition.

My friend Donna gifted me a beautiful stoneware brie baker with wood spreader set, and it was absolutely perfect for this recipe. The versatile baking dish even has a lid to help keep the dip warm in between servings! This flavorful baked dip recipe includes just three ingredients and is ready in only about 20 minutes. To make the simple appetizer recipe, here are the gluten-free ingredients you'll need to gather: marinara sauce, burrata cheese and fresh basil (check out the health benefits of basil). You add the marinara to a small casserole dish, place the burrata on top then bake until bubbling. Top with fresh basil and serve. So easy and delicious.
The creamy protein-packed baked dip is irresistible when served as an appetizer or unexpected side dish with warm, crusty bread. It's so hearty and filling that it makes for a wonderful vegetarian lunch, too. I love that this recipe is part of a more nutritious Mediterranean diet. We loved it so much, we made it twice in one week!
Cuisine: Mediterranean / Italian
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or make your own)
- 8 ounces fresh burrata, drained
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped (plus additional for optional garnish, if desired)
- red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
Here's how to make it:
- In a small casserole dish, add the marinara sauce. (I've used a small 7-inch round baking dish as well as a Le Creuset casserole dish that measures 7x6 inches.)
- Nestle the burrata into the sauce. (If you like a little heat, you can add a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes, to taste.)
- Bake in an oven that's been preheated to 375 degrees F until bubbling, about 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle the basil on top.
- Garnish with additional fresh basil, if desired, and serve. Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in the microwave.
