One of my pantry shelves in entirely devoted to spice blends of all kinds. One of my favorite spice blends is Cajun seasoning. I've got several different brands on that shelf, but there's one I tend to grab the most: Slap Ya Mama. I was delighted when I found a copycat recipe for Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning.
This dry spice seasoning recipe has basic spices in it, but combines to make a flavorful, spicy combination for using in all those amazing Cajun recipes. To make this homemade spice blend recipe you will need the following spices: ground cayenne, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, white pepper, salt, dried thyme and dried oregano. The spices are whisked together and the dry seasoning is ready to be used. (Check out the health benefits of pepper.)
Use this DIY spice blend in all those recipes that call for Cajun seasoning. The spicy spice blend is also delicious on chicken, shrimp, fish or sprinkled on potato wedges or french fries and corn on the cob. How will you use it?
