Barbecue sauce is a staple in my house. And being from Texas, those jars of sauce get used a lot. We are always smoking or grilling some type of protein. So you know how surprised I was when I found a really tasty barbecue sauce that was part of a baked barbecue chicken recipe. Yes, baked. The sauce took no time to make and had the perfect combination of sweet and tangy.
This Texas-style bbq sauce recipe is cooked on the stovetop. You only need eight simple, staple ingredients (one is water) to make this homemade barbecue sauce recipe. Here is what you need to grab from your fridge and pantry: an onion, butter, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, yellow mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
The onion is cooked in the butter until soft, and then the rest of the ingredients join the party. Simmer for about 15 minutes and this gluten-free sauce is ready to be used in recipes, to baste grilled meats or to serve on the side as a dipping sauce.
This sweet and tangy barbecue sauce is delicious on chicken, pork and beef. How will you use it?
