Instant Pot™ Spaghetti Recipe Is an Italian Dinner Winner (5 Ingredients, 20 Minutes) by John Eckels

Everybody loves spaghetti – and everybody loves their Instant Pot™! This pressure cooker spaghetti recipe is delicious when used with a high-quality sauce and pasta. You will not have a sink full of pots and pans to wash after dinner either! Cleanup is simple because the stainless steel liner requires very little scrubbing and cleans up quick and easy. This is a quick and easy Italian dinner winner!

To make this Instant Pot™ recipe you only need five ingredients. Here is your shopping list: olive oil, ground beef, pasta sauce (check out the health benefits of tomatoes), spaghetti noodles and water. You can add optional fresh garlic and onion for even more flavor. The prep is minimal and the spaghetti cooks up in about 15 minutes in the pressure cooker.

This pasta recipe can be made without meat for a vegetarian dinner. You could also make it with ground turkey instead of ground beef. Serve this easy Italian dinner with your favorite side dishes. Try my authentic Italian ciabatta bread recipe.

Ingredients

• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1/2 - 1 pound ground beef (I personally think 1/2 pound is just right)
• 23 - 27 ounces (1 jar) pasta sauce (I prefer Rao's brand)
• 8 - 9 ounces spaghetti noodles (about half a standard package)
• 2 cups water

Optional Ingredients

• 1 teaspoon minced garlic 
• 1 very small onion, diced 

Here's how to make it: 

1. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to cover the bottom of the pot. Add the ground beef, onion and minced garlic (if using). Press the sauté button and brown the ground beef. Finely chop up ground beef with a cooking spoon while browning.
   
2. Press Cancel when finished and drain most of the grease. Take a corner of a paper towel and wipe the grease from the top of the pot liner. This prevents contamination of the silicone seal. Spread the ground beef evenly to cover the bottom of the pot. Break the spaghetti noodles into thirds and evenly spread in the pot. Add 1 cup of water. (I recommend putting the pasta on top of the trivet to prevent burn warnings.)
   
3. Dump the jar of pasta sauce over top of the spaghetti noodles. Use the second cup of water to rinse the pasta sauce jar and dump into the pot. Put lid on and cook at High Pressure for 10 minutes. Immediately release the pressure, remove the lid and stir to evenly distribute the ground beef. Wait about 1 minute for sauce to thicken. (Make sure you use a 24- to 28-ounce jar of sauce. I prefer Rao's, which Costco sells at a great price. I have had excellent results also with Victoria tomato and basil and Prego Farmers Market tomato and basil.)
   
4. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired. I have not tried doubling the recipe so I can't recommend on doing so.
