Broccoli is one vegetable I cook at least once a week. Broccoli is one of the most popular vegetables, and for good reason. The vegetable is easy to cook, versatile, inexpensive and even picky eaters seem to love these little green gems. Not only that, but broccoli is loaded with health benefits.
When a recipe for mayo broccoli came through my feed, it was on the menu that night. This grilled broccoli recipe is fantastic! The mayonnaise gets down in all the nooks and crannies of the florets and makes the broccoli moist, but also helps it char and develop flavor on the grill. The broccoli was so good, it magically disappeared very quickly from my dinner plate!
Only two ingredients are needed to make this magic mayo broccoli recipe. Here is your shopping list: broccoli and mayonnaise. If you want to fancy it up a bit, you could also grab crushed red pepper flakes and a fresh lemon. The broccoli cooks up in about 10 minutes on the grill.
The original recipe called for 1 cup of mayonnaise. In my opinion, that is entirely too much. I coated all my broccoli with less than 1/2 cup. Start small and add more, if needed. I used Hellman's Real Mayonnaise, but use your favorite brand.
Don't be afraid of getting a good char on the broccoli. The flavor from that char combined with the moistness from the mayo is delicious. Serve the broccoli as a side dish with your favorite dinners. I served mine with sumac grilled chicken. Toss any leftover broccoli into lettuce, grain or pasta salads.
Fun Fact: Broccoli is native to the Mediterranean. The cruciferous vegetable was cultivated in Italy during ancient Roman times.

Ingredients
- 1 head broccoli, cut into long florets (leave some stem)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
Here's how to make it:
- Put the cut broccoli into a mixing bowl. Add the mayonnaise and stir until all the broccoli is thoroughly coated. Season with salt and black pepper, if desired. (For even more flavor, squeeze some lemon juice over the broccoli or add crushed red pepper flakes for a little kick.)
- Preheat your grill so you have one hot side and one cooler side. Use tongs to place the broccoli onto the grill on the hot side. (If you don't have a grill, you can cook the broccoli in a grill pan or cast iron pan.)
- Cook, turning often, until the broccoli begins to char, about 2 to 3 minutes. Move the broccoli over to a less hot spot, close the lid and let it cook about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Move the broccoli to the cooler side of the grill, cover and continue to cook until it reaches desired doneness. I cooked mine to crisp-tender and placed it on a piece of aluminum foil.
- Serve the broccoli hot and enjoy! Store any leftover broccoli in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the microwave.
