St. Louis-Style Pork Steaks Recipe Tastes Amazing (30 Minutes, 8 Ingredients) by Donna John

Two beautiful pork steaks sitting in the fridge inspired me to look for new ways to cook them. Pork steaks were one of my favorite go-to dinners when my kids were growing up (quick, inexpensive). The only way I really cooked them back in the day was with Cajun seasoning on the grill. Stepping out of my pork steak box, I decided to try a St. Louis pork steak recipe. Well, I ended up researching and combining two recipes, tweaking and coming up with something my husband and I both enjoyed.
Unlike Texas barbecue that's most often cooked all day long, St. Louis-style barbecue is cooked faster, usually with a dry rub, and coated with a tomato-based vinegary barbecue sauce. This grilled pork recipe is basted with seasoned apple cider vinegar as it cooks, then ends with it being basted with barbecue sauce. The end result is a juicy, tender, gluten-free pork steak full of tartness and sweetness.
To make these grilled pork steaks you will need to gather the following ingredients: pork steaks, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, apple cider vinegar and your favorite barbecue sauce (to keep it authentic, use a St. Louis-style barbecue sauce). The steaks cook up on the grill in about 20 to 25 minutes, depending on thickness.
Cook as many high-protein pork steaks as you need for your family. The 1/2 cup vinegar plus 1/2 cup water is enough basting liquid for about four pork steaks. If you cook more increase the measurements.
Pork steaks make a wonderful budget-friendly dinner for the family or for friends or neighbors on the weekends. Serve the juicy barbecue pork with your favorite side dishes. I served mine with a salad and green beans. Chop up any leftover meat and use it in fried rice. Delish.

Ingredients
- 4 pork steaks
- seasoned salt
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- black pepper
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- barbecue sauce
Here's how to make it:
- Season both sides of the pork steaks with seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper, to taste. (Season the pork to taste with the seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper. I seasoned liberally.)
- In a small bowl, stir together the apple cider vinegar and water. Season with a little of the seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper. Put some barbecue sauce in another small bowl. (Use your favorite barbecue sauce, or try a St. Louis-style sauce for this recipe.)
- Preheat the grill to medium-low. (If you don't have an outdoor grill, you can cook them on an indoor grill or in a grill pan.)
- Put the pork steaks on and cook, turn and basting often and liberally with the vinegar, for about 15 minutes.
- Continue to cook until pork is cooked through, basting now with the barbecue sauce, flipping often. Cooking time will depend on the thickness of the pork steaks. Pork steaks, in general, are pretty thin.
- Let the pork steaks rest a few minutes before serving. Store any leftover pork in an airtight container in the fridge.
