This buttery vintage recipe is a cookie classic. It's called Just Cookies because that is exactly what it is – just cookies. Nothing fancy here, just four simple ingredients mixed together then baked into deliciousness. Here are the simple ingredients you'll need: butter, sugar, vanilla extract and flour. That's it! And, the cookies are ready in only about 20 minutes.
We know everyone will rave about this budget-friendly recipe after the first bite. If you wanted to get fancy with this old-fashioned vanilla cookie recipe, you could stir in some chocolate chips, nuts, flaked coconut or crushed up candy bars, or sprinkle them with cinnamon-sugar or powdered sugar.

Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose or gluten-free flour

- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar and vanilla.
- Stir in the flour. (To make these cookies gluten-free, use gluten-free flour.)
- Form into balls and put them onto a cookie sheet. (The number of cookies depends on the size of balls you form.)
- Bake in a preheated 325-degree F oven for about 12 to 14 minutes or until just set.
- Remove and cool before serving. Store leftover cookies in an airtight container.
