Don't Buy Bread Crumbs: Use This Cooking Hack to Save Time & Money! by Pauline Campos
No one I know actually likes getting stuck with a sandwich made from the heels of the bread. We used to just throw them out, but then I realized we were losing out on a great chance to get creative and spend less at the grocery store. Instead of tossing away unwanted bread slices, I now:
- Leave them out to dry for a few days on the counter.
- Then grind them into breadcrumbs in the blender or grate with a hand-held grater.
I've got a bag in the freezer that I just add to with each batch, and when I need breadcrumbs, it's easy to measure out the amount needed then just add seasonings!
