Meatballs are a great family dinner that can be prepared in some many ways. Meatballs are also great for meal prepping and freeze incredibly well for those busy weeknights.
Everyone seems to have their favorite meatball recipe – and they rarely want to share it! But I'm sharing mine. This easy ground beef meatball recipe bakes in the oven and can be used right away or frozen for dinners later.
You only need seven simple ingredients to make these moist baked meatballs. Here is your short shopping list: lean ground beef, an onion, dry breadcrumbs (regular or gluten-free), fresh garlic, an egg, Parmesan cheese and ketchup. Combine all the ingredients, roll into meatballs and either cook and eat right away or freeze for later – or cook, cool and then freeze for later!
Use these tender, juicy meatballs for spaghetti and meatballs, in meatballs sandwiches or meatball casseroles, or in your favorite recipes. Smother in your favorite gravy recipe or toss them into a grain bowl. The sky is the limit with these yummy meatballs. How will you use them?
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 to 20 minutes
Total Time: 20 to 25 minutes
Servings: 12 (depends on size)
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
Here's how to make it:
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Mix to combine. You could use ground turkey or ground chicken instead of ground beef.
- Shape into meatballs and place into a baking pan. The number of meatballs you get will be determined by how big or little you make them.
- Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Serve immediately with your favorite sauce.
- To freeze, cool the meatballs, put them onto a baking sheet and freeze. Once frozen, store them in freezer bags.
