Some recipes go viral and then fade away, and some stick. This easy Mississippi pot roast recipe went viral – and for good reason. The savory beef roast recipe takes minutes to throw into a slow cooker and the payoff is a tender roast with a flavor-packed gravy. This is a family dinner that will be requested often.
To make this slow-cooker Mississippi pot roast recipe you only need five simple ingredients. Here is your short shopping list for this budget-friendly high-protein recipe: a beef roast, a packet of dry ranch salad dressing mix, a packet of dry au jus mix, butter and a jar of pepperoncini peppers.
The pot roast simmers for hours in your slow cooker while you get on with your day. Adjust the amount of butter and peppers you add by the size of your pot roast. An average pot roast is 3 to 4 pounds. The size will also affect cooking time. The roast is done when it is fall-apart tender.
Serve this easy pot roast recipe over mashed potatoes or with rice to soak up the gravy (you'll thank me later).
