Carrots are a popular dinner side dish because most people enjoy their sweet flavor. Another bonus is that you get the health benefits of carrots! To make this simple carrot side dish recipe you will need baby carrots, butter, brown sugar, honey or maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice. The carrots are ready to serve in about 20 minutes.
These sweet stovetop carrots complement any protein. Serve the sweet, spiced carrots with chicken, pork, beef, lamb or seafood. They are wonderful with comfort food meals like meatloaf, roasted chicken and grilled steaks, too. And how about that Thanksgiving turkey?

Ingredients
- 16 ounces baby carrots
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Here’s how to make it:
- Boil or roast the carrots until tender. (If you don't have baby carrots, cut regular carrots into sticks or rounds.)
- Melt the butter in a skillet. Add the brown sugar, honey or maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice. Cook, stirring, until it gets a little caramelized.
- Add the carrots and stir to coat. Sprinkle with chopped, fresh herbs, if desired. Store any leftover carrots in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in the microwave.
