Sometimes simple is better. Less is best. This easy meatloaf recipe like my grandma and mom used to make is the perfect example. This budget-friendly recipe has just a few simple ingredients. No expensive ingredients here.
The simple, old-fashioned meatloaf recipe is made with ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, onion, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. That's it. The ingredients are mixed together, formed into a meatloaf and baked in the oven for about 45 minutes or until cooked through. If you're on a gluten-free diet, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and gluten-free Worcestershire sauce.
If you like a sauce on top of your meatloaf, you could add ketchup, barbecue sauce or your favorite meatloaf topping right before the end of cooking time. Serve grandma's meatloaf as a high-protein dinner with your favorite side dishes. Mashed potatoes and a vegetable were my grandma's top choices.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt (or to taste)
- 2 teaspoons black pepper (or to taste)
Here's how to make it:
- Combine all ingredients. Form into a loaf and place in a baking dish or loaf pan. You could use ground turkey or ground chicken instead of ground beef. Adjust the amounts of salt and pepper to suit your tastes. For a gluten-free meatloaf, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and gluten-free Worcestershire sauce.
- Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 45 minutes, or until cooked through. Let stand about 5 minutes before serving. If the meatloaf starts to get to brown before the end of cooking time, cover with foil. The meatloaf is cooked through at 165 degrees F on a food thermometer. You could add ketchup or barbecue sauce on top, if desired. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
