Don’t throw those apples out that are past their prime. Try this easy applesauce recipe!
You’ll need:
- 6 apples, peeled and cut into pieces
- 1/3 cup water
- sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- dash salt
Here’s how you make it:
- Add cut apples to the water. Cover and cook until tender.
- Add sugar to taste (I use about 1/3 cup), cinnamon, nutmeg, butter and a dash of salt.
- Continue to cook and mash the apples as they cook.
This recipe makes a sweet filling for pies, tarts or crepes, a delicious topping on ice cream sundaes and is great served with pork roast. You can freeze it for later use. Enjoy!
