I think many of us can agree that the grilled cheese sandwich is one of the most delicious sandwiches ever, and the grilled ham and cheese may take a close second. But, to make the best grilled cheese ever, you have to try making it in your waffle iron. Seriously!
Making a grilled cheese, or a grilled ham and cheese, in your waffle maker is so easy, and it ensures that you get lots of gooey cheese and crunchy bites. It also looks really cool, and the whole family will love it for lunch or even a fun dinner.

Ingredients
Here's how to make it:
- Heat up your waffle iron.
- Butter both sides of the bread well.
- Assemble the sandwich with your favorite cheese on bottom, then the ham, then another slice of cheese on top. (You also could use just one slice of cheese and/or ham, it's up to your preference.)
- Let it cook in the waffle iron for 3 to 5 minutes or until done.
My kids like the traditional version with American cheese, but on mine, I prefer to use brie and fig jam, cheddar and mustard, or pesto and mozzarella. Get creative and swap ingredients in or out, depending on your preferences.
