Following his MBBS (which he completed with honors from West Bengal University of Health Sciences) Dr. Gorai completed his MD in Dermatology Venereology and Leprology. He then obtained the Diplomat of National Board (DNB) qualification followed by membership of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS).

He was awarded World Congress of Dermatology travel fellowship to present his paper at Vancouver Canada. He has won several awards and scholarships to attend and present papers at national and international conferences. In 2015 he bagged an award and travel fellowship from International society of Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS) to present his two research papers at Seoul, South Korea.
