Father's Day Card Craft for Kids: Dad Will Love This DIY Handyman Card Father's Day

Does Dad love to fix things – or just wear that tool belt to look cool? Either way, he'll love this DIY Father's Day card as much as the kids enjoy making it.

You'll need:

• construction paper (brown, white, grey, red)
• blue cardstock
• scissors
• pen
• glue stick

Here's how to make it:

Cut out a pocket shape and two strips about 1-inch wide the same length as the pocket out of the brown construction paper. (Tip: To help younger kids, parents can trace templates out of white paper.)

Cut a rectangle for the "jeans" about twice as big as the "pocket" out of the blue cardstock. Cut two small strips for the "belt loops" just a little wider than the "belt" out of the blue cardstock. Glue one of the brown strips at the top and then glue on the two blue pieces to create a "belt." Glue the second brown strip about 1 inch from the edge of the "jeans" on the left side and wrap it around to the back making sure to leave a loop to hold the hammer. Cover this strip by gluing on the "pocket," making sure not to glue the very top (this is where you'll insert the wrench). 

Write "Happy Father's Day" and add lines around the edges of the "pocket."

Cut a wrench and hammer shape out of the grey construction paper. Cut out and glue on a red "handle" on the hammer. (Alternately, you could have your child color a red handle using crayons.)

Insert the wrench into the pocket and the hammer into the belt loop.
