Special Needs Kids: Why Parents Should Keep Records of Their Child's Milestones

April is Autism Awareness Month. Did you know that the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) reports 1:88 children are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder?

My daughter has a developmental disability and the experience of seeing her reach developmental milestones was filled with worry. I documented the milestones on a calendar and kept a daily journal. It helped me to remember events that I could share at our appointments. It also gave me an outlet for my emotions. I recently found our journal and I have our story to share with her.

Always contact your pediatrician if you have concerns about your child's development.
