Unhealthy Parenting: Do Some Parents Need to Grow Up? Are Kids the Bosses Now in Families? You Decide...

Are kids now ruling the roost in some families? Is it our own fault? Dr. Leonard Sax, a family physician, psychologist and author, feels there’s been a collapse in parenting and that it’s time for many of us to grow up. He believes that the bosses in modern parenthood are the kids, and this is partially responsible for kids being:

OMG, Donna John! This is so true. I look around and see some parents being bossed around by their kids, or this over-helicoptering that's going on now. Where did we lose our way? Thanks for the tip about Dr. Sax and his book - sounds like a must-read for today's parents!

Yes, they do. I witness it every time I take my grandson to the playground. It's hard to watch sometimes.

THANK YOU, Donna John !! As a childcare provider (and otherwise very involved with children), this is one of my biggest pet peeves. Children look to us for structure and when it isn't provided, chaos often ensues.

You are so right, Kimberly Johnson . Drives me nuts when I see it going on.
