Every week, Pre-Hispanic Night at Grand Velas Riviera Maya takes resort guests on a Mexican dinner journey complete with an authentic music show of the Mayan life story. The one-hour show begins with a taste of the pre-Hispanic Mayan gastronomy, inclusive of such menu highlights as Cochinita Pibil, Deer al Tzic (venison cooked with regional vegetables) and Relleno Negro (a typical Yucatecan dish which in many villages still have the tradition of burning several types of chiles to get the black stuffing).

The dinner is followed by a six-man music show using instruments of the era, including drums, logs, woods, snails and wind pieces. The final part of the pre-Hispanic journey is a live narrated show depicting the Mayan life story, depicting the people’s value of life and death and close connection with all living beings and nature. The Pre-Hispanic Night dinner and show is part of the resort’s nightly rate.
