Belize’s vast jungle is one of the most serene places on earth. It is made so because of their dedication to their country, to organic foods, a focus on quality of life and an unparalleled respect for nature. The peace, which has settled over the jungle, is contagious upon entering.

I have always found a calm in the Belizean jungles, which I have not found anywhere else. This is what I expected when I traveled to The Lodge at Chaa Creek. What I found instead was so much more. After being dropped off at the lodge entrance I walked through the woods to the small building that serves as a lobby. It blends into the surroundings and immediately welcomes you into the private luxury of this resort.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is pure luxury in the most subtle and natural way. The bars and restaurants are all open air, constantly connected to the surroundings. I completely lost the world once I put my suitcase in my incredibly beautiful room, grabbed a book and settled in my private hammock for hours. Lying there, in between naps, I felt everything just melt away. Time stopped moving and all that mattered was the peaceful sound of the birds and the rustling leaves.

My days were spent trekking along various paths, exploring the butterfly garden, taking medicinal walks, learning about the culture, eating their amazing organic foods grown on property and sipping drinks while relaxing at the open bar.

Chaa Creek is a five-star hotel, however they offer fantastic camping cabins on the properties, which even accommodate families, and are budget friendly.
