How Many Do You See? Fun Counting Coloring Activity Pages to Help Kids Learn to Count Printables Activities Playtime School/Education Fun With Dad Education
Counting is something we do everyday, often without even thinking about it. How many minutes do we have to leave the house before we will be late for work? How many bananas are left in the fruit bowl? How many new recipes will I make this week? But when do children learn to count?
According to Stanford University, "Young children, even infants, develop essentially non-verbal basic concepts of quantity: more/less, order, same, and adding/subtracting. Children learn most of these things on their own, without much adult help. Children often use these concepts in everyday life, for example, to determine who has more or less ice cream. Children’s concepts and procedures are useful under certain conditions but need to be enriched. (Perhaps that’s why number was invented: the shepherd needs to know not only that he has a lot of sheep, but exactly how many.) This is what children know and what they need to learn at roughly ages 3, 4 and 5."
You can help your kids learn to count – and keep them entertained for a bit – with these free printable counting activity pages. These fun coloring pages ask your child, "How many?" How many pigs? How many cats? How many robots? How many birds? Not only does your child have fun counting the cute objects, but also gets to color them. Coloring is a wonderful mindfulness activity for kids!
