A new study has revealed Prince Edward Island is the top province most likely to seek bigger insurance settlements after a car accident, among other findings:
- Prince Edward Island (PEI) leads with 96 car accident legal searches per 100,000 residents.
- Nova Scotia is a distant second with 62 searches per 100,000 residents, while Newfoundland and Labrador ranks third with 54 searches per 100,000 residents.
- Quebec and BC Lag Behind: Despite large populations, Quebec (5) and BC (8 searches per 100,000) show low interest, possibly due to fewer accidents or better legal awareness.

The study by personal injury law firm Preszler Law analyzed car accident lawyer–related keywords using Google Keyword Planner over the last 12 months, including variations such as “car accident lawyer,” “car accident compensation,” “car crash lawyer” and “car accident insurance claim.” The data on average monthly searches for these keywords was then calculated per 100,000 residents to identify the provinces that are most likely seeking bigger insurance settlements. Where are drivers dissatisfied with their insurance companies after a collision?
Prince Edward Island leads the nation with 96 searches per 100,000 residents, totaling 170 searches among its 177,081 residents. This high per-capita search volume suggests a strong interest in terms like "car accident lawyer," "car accident compensation" and “car crash lawyer.”
Nova Scotia is in second place with 62 searches per 100,000 residents. The province recorded a total of 660 searches among its 1,072,545 residents, demonstrating significant engagement with keywords like “car accident lawyer,” “car crash lawyer” and “truck accident lawyer.”

Saskatchewan follows in seventh place with 11 searches per 100,000 residents, while Manitoba is at rank eight, also with 11 searches per 100,000 residents. British Columbia and Quebec complete the list at ranks nine and ten with eight and five searches per 100,000 residents, respectively.
Looking at the study, a spokesperson from Preszler Law commented, “The study reveals that interest in pursuing car accident claims is notably high in provinces with lower populations, such as Prince Edward Island (PEI), Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. This trend suggests that a combination of factors – including increased awareness of personal rights, evolving insurance practices and the complexities of no-fault insurance claims – are driving individuals to explore legal avenues more aggressively.“
Given these findings, it is essential for individuals to consult with knowledgeable professionals who can navigate the intricacies of car accident claims. By doing so, they can ensure that all legal options are thoroughly explored and that they receive the comprehensive guidance necessary to secure fair compensation.”
The study was conducted by Preszler Law, a dedicated personal injury law firm, passionately advocating for plaintiffs' rights and securing fair compensation nationwide.
