I didn't realize this, Donna John ! You just gave me my next gardening project, thank you. :-)

I've been doing it for a while now. Have some ready to eat I need to pull this week. It's fun watching them grow. I used to just push them down into another plant's pot, but now they've graduated to their own. :) I also have done this with turnips (you eat the greens that grow on top). I tried romaine lettuce, but didn't have much luck. May try again. Elisa A. Schmitz 30Seconds

I just pulled all of these that I planted from the ends. Looks like I'll be grilling green onions tomorrow. Elisa A. Schmitz 30Seconds

I do this all the time on my windowsill! And they are such a great thing to have around to add to so many meals. Trying with celery now...

Let me know how the celery works out. I've never done that. Debra Ferrie

What an awesome idea, Donna John! I never seen to have them when I need them. And - living in an apartment, space is at a premium, but I'm sure I could find room for a small onion planter.
Have you ever tried just cutting some of the tops off, if you just need a small amount? I'd be interested to know if it could be done. Thanks so much for this!

I haven't, but that's a great idea. Going to try it and will let you know how it goes.

My regrown green onions got huge this time!

I love this! We've tried one at a time in a mini hydroponic setup. But using a pot with soil looks prettier and can hold more onions! We'll be giving this a try for sure.
