Gardens in France: Walk Through Villandry, the Chateaux of the Loire Valley International
In the Loire Valley of France, you will find many marvelous chateaux surrounded by beautiful gardens. Having visited a healthy number of these chateaux I can say that the gardens at Chateau de Villandry were the most impressive that I have seen.
It was such a relaxing time to walk through the outstandingly picturesque gardens and imagine what life was like for the occupants of such a magnificent place. There are several different sections of the gardens, each with their own colors, formats and character – from the cottage garden feel of the sun garden, to the sculptured magnificence of the kitchen garden, you won't be disappointed.
An easy 9-mile car trip from Tours will drop you at the castle car park, which is free. Entry to the gardens will cost € 7 (about $8 U.S.), or for a look in the fully restored chateau as well as the gardens you pay €11 (about $13).
