Lemons Of Love: A Zesty Twist on Making Lemonade Out of Lemons for Cancer Patients Make a Difference
A new cancer support group that stands out in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago is called Lemons of Love. Lemons of Love (LOL) is a non-profit, 501(c) organization that creates beautiful care packages for chemo patients. They deliver them to area hospitals and patients nationwide. You'll find that Lemons of Love believes that, "When life gives you lemons – laugh out loud." Don't you LOVE that!
The bags are full of carefully selected items by founder Jill Swanson Peltier, a former cancer fighter. She began treatment for stage III colon cancer in 2014. In the handmade bags, you'll find:
- lotion
- lemon drops
- dark chocolate
- ginger tea
- a LOL water bottle
- FIGHTER bracelet
- Calypso Lemonade
- superhero socks
- a "happy" picture drawn by a child
You can support Lemons of Love by making a donation or participating in their events. Their 2nd Annual golf outing "Lemons on the Links" is September 18 or their 3rd Annual "Pink Lemonade 5K" in October. They are opening a cancer support center this fall where they'll be able to assemble the bags and have room for support groups for patients, survivors, care givers and more.
