Most of us are looking to keep a well-managed, nice-looking lawn. We fertilize and treat our weeds, but insects can wreak havoc on our hard work. One of the most damaging insects is the white grub and its adult counterpart, the Japanese beetle.
The treatment of your lawn will help rid the turf of grubs, which in turn will lower the number of Japanese beetles in the area. But what should you treat your lawn with? Insecticides are the best option. There are some organic options, but the damage that can occur while we wait for them to become strong enough to kill the grubs can leave you without a yard.
- Look for preventative insecticides containing the active ingredient chlorantraniliprole (Acelepryn, Scott's GrubEx).
- If you already have grubs, turn to curative control products containing imidacloprid (Merit) or carbaryl (Sevin).
