Some insect bites can lead to more serious infections. You may have cellulitis if the bite is not responding to traditional treatments. Here's when to have a doctor check it out: 

• If the rash begins to spread. 
• If the bite area becomes increasingly red, painful, firm, warm to touch and/or drains puss. 
• If it causes fever, fatigue or body aches. 

Some insects can carry serious infections such as Lyme disease in some ticks, and West Nile Virus in some mosquitoes. If you suspect infection or encounter difficulty removing ticks with simple tweezers, seek medical attention immediately.
