Tablescapes: Why to Put Your Kids in Charge of Your Holiday Table Decorations! by Lisa Henthorn

In the past, I have spent money on elaborate tablescapes for the holidays. This Thanksgiving, I let go of my need for "perfect" and put my girls in charge of decorating. They grabbed:

• a box of art supplies
• a container of holiday decorations 
• an assortment of pinecones and twigs from outside

When ready, the table was economically resplendent with gold-painted pumpkins, assorted napkin rings, Christmas wreath and turkeys made out of pinecones, complete with nests (do turkeys nest?). My girls were proud, the table has never looked more kid-friendly and I just loved how personal it all felt!
